Doves

Doves

Even Seagulls look like doves

If you stand far enough away

Pay enough attention to a man

and you’ll find his disease

Every structural flaw, every imperfection

Every traceable line, every crease

Yes, yes, even see his disease.

Whether it be Sloth, Gluttony, or Lust,

Turn a man from gold,

to lusterless dust.

Stand far enough away,

and beast seems harmless

Maybe scary, but it seems at bay

So long as you stand far enough away.

To hate the beast is to become

the Beast

Pity the beast is to become

the Saint

To this, I say–

“Even Seagulls look like doves

If you stand far enough away.”
